Investment firm Engine No. 1 has named Emma Zohner as head of data science. In her new role, Zohner will be driving data science strategies to enrich the company’s impact and investment research processes.
Since joining the company in June 2021, as principal data scientist, Zohner has focused on the development of impact valuation models in the Engine No. 1 total value framework and their integration across investment strategies.
Prior to joining Engine No. 1, Zohner was senior data scientist at i360, a data consultancy in predictive modeling, consumer segmentation, system optimization, and supply-chain logistics, where she led their statistical learning capabilities for pattern recognition in human behavior, survey research, and system optimization.
Previously, she worked at Viveo France, a banking software company, where she designed software that assists global banks in adhering to international regulatory requirements, and she was responsible for business development in the West African market.
Zohner received a B.S. in mathematics/economics from the University of California at Los Angeles. She also holds M.S. degrees in financial engineering from Claremont Graduate University and mathematics from Wichita State University. She has a Ph.D. in statistics from Rice University.
