Our Programs

In recent decades, many overarching global events have caused dramatic volatility in the financial markets, including climate change and more intense and more frequent extreme weather events, geopolitics, the evolution of the COVID-19 and SARS viruses to pandemic levels and later socioeconomic recovery processes.

The continued dramatic growth of digital technologies and fintech developments have and will continue to play a major factor in long-term growth. The Center for Computational Finance and Economic Systems (CoFES) and its programs at Rice University are dedicated to the quantitative study of financial markets and economic systems and their ultimate impact on society.

Through programs in education and research, CoFES is advancing the boundaries of computational, statistical and mathematical techniques used to solve complex problems in finance and risk management.
